Principal’s  Birthday

                     On 6th March 2018, Birthday of our Headmistress was celebrated. Programme for the students started at 7:45 am and the programme for the staff was at 9:00 am.

           The programme began with an introduction stating the purpose and importance of the day followed by presentation of bouquet (Spiritual bouquet)  cutting of cake, dance performance by students of std 8 and 9. Further there was presentation of card done by class monitors of std 5-9. The staff Programme started at 9:00 in the school auditorium. To make the programme interesting some spot prizes were introduced. The programme concluded with best wishes given to the Principal for all her future  endeavours.

150 Year Celebration Begins

MUMBAI: One of the city’s oldest institutions with a roll call of illustrious alumni, St Xavier’s High School, Fort, will step into its 150th year in June 2018. As part of its sesquicentennial jubilee celebrations, the school, on Saturday, announced a series of initiatives in sports as well as events for the differently-abled.

Reliving his days at the school, former top cop, Julio Ribeiro said, “I owe my Padma Bhushan to the school because I lost my father at the age of eight and it is the school which taught me values like justice and truth which were critical to my service.”

Also revisiting the school were notable alumni like former chief minister Ashok Chavan, HDFC chairman Deepak Parekh, neurosurgeon Dr Keki Turel, ENT surgeon Dr Milind Kirtane and chairman of Percept Limited Harindra Singh.

“Whenever there was a movie or documentary in the auditorium, we sneaked out and went home as soon as the lights went off,” said Chavan, reminiscing about his school days.

To commemorate 150 years, the school will host an inter-school cricket tournament named after its star alumnus, Sunil Gavaskar. It will also host football and badminton tournaments during the year. The school is planning sporting and non-sporting events for differently abled students from schools across Mumbai.

“Our school is about all-round development of the student. We concentrate on best practices in extra-curricular activities as well,” said Jennifer Dias, the current and first woman principal of the school.

Alumni have promised to contribute to the milestone celebrations. “You leave the school but the school does not leave you. We will do our best to meet the goals and vision of the school in whatever small and modest way possible,” said Parekh.

The school conferred the Xavier Ratna 2018 on Dr Kirtane and academician and educationist Dr Beheruz Sethna.

Gandhi Jayanti at St. Xavier’s

3rd Oct, Mumbai : To commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The St. Xavier’s High School held an assembly on the intercom. The assembly was organized by teacher Swati Prabhu and the student council.

  The assembly comprised of an information speech by the school and house captains. The speech was followed by a song. Truly, the speech was very elaborate and beautifully described Mahatma Gandhi’s life.
